Houston Texans offensive tackle Daune Browns gets rescinded fine successfully after three months – NFL News
It has been three months since the fining of the Houston Texans offensive tackle Daune Brown National Football League (NFL) for an alleged foul involving a Jacksonville Jaguars player and he gets compensated by rescinding of his fine by the league office.
Brown was accused of unnecessary roughness in their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in October 2011 and was consequently fined $7,500 as penalty of his foul. He allegedly had punched Jaguars linebacker Clint Session.
However, the player declined to accept the mistake and apologize saying he did not commit any foul. "It is what it is," Brown said at the time. "I have no reason to apologize for anything because I didn't punch him."
He went on to send a video evidence to NFL officials backing his claims that he was just getting to retain his balance that led to the apparent conclusion of hitting a punch on him.
"I did not punch that man," Brown said. "As I was getting up, one of his teammates came and pushed me. To not fall back on top of him, my left hand came down and hit him in the stomach area to stop myself from falling on top of him. I immediately got up,
and as you saw from the tape, he had no reaction to it. He got up and continued to play."
His efforts to his defence finally paid him off as the league office on Monday announced to have rescinded the fine.
He is among only a few players from his side that have been subjected to rectification of their mistakes. The side as a matter of fact has been making headlines for injuries to his players.
It was the Jaguars game that the Texans lost their star quarterback Matt Schaub to a foot injury. The player is yet to recover and has already been ruled out of the current season of the NFL.
Schaub was replaced by Matt Leinart who left the field due to a collarbone injury after playing for just half of an hour. It was his first game since his comeback from an injury that he had suffered a couple of years earlier.
The injuries however did not affect much the Texans in their chances for a playoff berth and the American Football Conference (AFC) south tile. They have managed securing both, and it was for the first time that the Texans have made it to playoff season.
