Houston Texans players yet to overcome playoff game loss to Baltimore Ravens – NFL News Update
The Houston Texans had come so close to postseason victory on Sunday, January 15, 2012, that it still looks a real possibility to some of its players as they believe they could have won their first-ever playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The linebacker, DeMeco Ryans, is one of the players yet to overcome the loss against Ravens at the M&T Bank Stadium past weekend.
"It's come upon us too early", Ryans said. "You look back, it was a good season for us, but still, (we're) not satisfied with the way it ended. We expected more out of ourselves".
The Texans had come within reach of a win in the game, while the young attack did not have an answer to the league’s best defence at the end and were left with a score of just 13 points to 20.
Similar views were shared by Texans’ quarterback, T.J.Yates, who despite performing better than his previous starts, could not help his side claim a victory. He also took some of the responsibility for the loss.
The Houston Texans finished the 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season with an impressive record of 11 wins.
They claimed the American Football Conference (AFC)-North division title and claimed a berth into the playoff for the first time in the franchise's history.
Houston went in to win their wild-card game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a convincing score of 31-10 points and were riding on a momentum and winning-hype before going into their road game against the Ravens.
It was probably this hype because of which many of the Texans' players had over expectations in the game and still cannot believe that they have lost the opportunity.
Houston's coach, Gary Kubiak said that it was likely that having achieved so much in the season, Texans could fall into another direction.
"It's just amazing when you get 53 guys going in the same direction, what they can do", Kubiak said.
"A lot of things that happened to us this year can easily send you in the wrong direction. It made us stronger, it made our locker room stronger, it made just the whole group stronger".
Both the coach and Texans' owner, Bob McNair, have backed their players in spite of their loss against the Ravens, shattering their hopes for the AFC championship.
The coach had met with each player, respectively, after the game and appreciated every one of them for their role in Texans' wins in the regular season.
McNair has also spoken highly of his coach and congratulated him for taking his team to the postseason for the first time, calling it a great achievement by his side.
