Houston Texans progress report till Week 7 of the 2012 season – NFL Special Part 1
In this National Football League (NFL) special edition, we will look at the progress made by Houston Texans from Week 1 till Week 7.
Texans are currently standing on top of American Football Conference (AFC) South and have a 6-1 record.
Even after getting a beating in Week 6, Texans are still ranked as one of the best teams this season due to their consistent performance on the field.
Week 1: Miami Dolphins
Texans got to a fantastic start to the season as they beat the not-so-good Miami Dolphins in a commanding 30-10 victory.
The offence scored 24 points in the second quarter to take the game away from the hapless Dolphins.
Texans were helped by Dolphins pitiable offence that turned over the ball four times in four consecutive possessions.
Running back Arian Foster produced great performance as he covered 79 rushing yards on 26 carries for two touchdowns.
Quarterback Matt Schaub completed 20 of 31 passes for 266 yards and a touchdown.
Week 2: Jacksonville Jaguars
It was a completely dominating performance as Texans looked to be in control since the start of the game to beat Jacksonville Jaguars 27-7.
Foster was again fantastic on the field. The running back carried the ball 28 times for 110 yards.
The running game was in full flow motion as another running back Ben Tate covered 74 yards on 12 carries and scored twice during the game.
Texans offence put up a 17-0 lead in the first half and the defence made it impossible for Dolphins to make a comeback.
Week 3: Denver Broncos
Schaub’s stunning performance allowed Texans to crank out a 31-25 win against Denver Broncos.
The quarterback completed 17 out of 30 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns. It was Texans’ best-ever start to the season. Foster gave another consistent performance as he carried the ball 25 times for 105 yards.
For the first time in his career, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning looked to be struggling against Texans.
Defensive end Elvis Dumervil got the Texans’ only sack of the game as defence gave away too many easy points during the game.
