Houston Texans progress report till Week 7 of the 2012 season – NFL Special Part 2
The progress report of Houston Texans for the 2012 season continues as we now look into games played in Week 4 to 7 of the regular season.
Week 4: Tennessee Titans
Texans marched their way to another victory as they thrashed Tennessee Titans 38-17 in Week 4.
The defence was outstanding in this game. Cornerback Kareem Jackson and field safety Danieal Manning both got interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Running back Arian Foster continued his good run of form this season with 24 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown to his name.
Quarterback Matt Schaub finished the game with 20 of 28 for 202 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Week 5: New York Jets
Texans got their record fifth win of the season as they beat New York Jets 23-17. Jets were always trailing in this game as Texans scored at regular intervals.
Foster led the offence again in this game. The running back scored a touchdown and 152 rushing yards on 29 carries. Kicker Shayne Graham scored three field goals for Texans.
Schaub was disappointing in this game. He threw an interception and completed 50% of the passes for 209 passing yards.
Texans linebacker Brian Cushing left the game with a serious knee injury.
Week 6: Green Bay Packers
Texans’ unbeaten run finally came to an end after Green Bay Packers thumped them 42-24.
It was the first major test for Texans after facing mediocre teams in the first five games and it proved to be a tough nut to crack as Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers scored the franchise-high six touchdowns in the game.
Texans offence got a rude awakening as Schaub failed to score a single touchdown and threw two interceptions.
Foster was the only player in the team to give a formidable performance. He scored two touchdowns and carried the ball 17 times for 29 yards.
Week 7: Baltimore Ravens
Texans gave a strong reaction to their recent defeat as they outclassed Baltimore Ravens 43-13. Both teams entered the game with a 5-1 record each but the game was totally dominated by Texans.
Foster was in the limelight again as he scored twice and covered 98 yards on 19 carries. Schaub made a huge comeback after dismal performance in previous week.
The quarterback completed 23 out of 37 passes for 256 yards and scored two touchdowns. Defensive end Antonio Smith got two sacks in a stout performance by the defence.
