Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson may miss game versus the Oakland Raiders
Houston Texans star wide receiver Andre Johnson sat out the team's practice on Thursday and head coach Gary Kubiak has stated that Johnson's status for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders will be a game time decision.
Johnson initially hurt his ankle in Houston's week two win over the Washington Redskins. Johnson stayed in the lineup the following week when the Texans lost the battle of Texas in week three losing 27-13 to the Dallas Cowboys, and Johnson was held to only
four catches for 64 yards.
Johnson aggravated the injury against the Cowboys, and though he was forced to miss practice this week, the receiver has stated that the injury is no worse than it was the week before and that he plans to be in the lineup.
Andre Johnson has played his entire career in Houston and is one of the major pieces in the Texans' offence. He has had over 100 receptions in three of the last for seasons and led the league in receptions as recently as 2006. Two months ago Johnson was
rewarded for his past services becoming the highest paid receiver in NFL history.
Should Johnson be out of the lineup on Sunday to face the Raiders it will place added pressure on the Texans ground game and second-year running back Arian Foster. Foster is currently the NFL's leading rusher with 406 yards, including 231 yards and three
touchdowns in week one when the Texans upset the reigning AFC champions Indianapolis Colts 34-24.
Foster was quick to laud praise upon the injured receiver. According to the team's official website Foster was quoted as saying, "I watch the way Andre works and he's compensated for what he does with accolades in everything that he does and rightfully so.
The man works hard. I just try to emulate that and do what he does."
The Texans will certainly be hoping Johnson's injured ankle will heal in time for him to feel ready this Sunday.
