Houston Texans sign veteran Jeff Garcia to be quarterback No 3 – NFL NewsA day after announcing to have waived Kellen Clemens the Houston Texans said that they have signed another veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia to their side.Clemens had hoped until last Friday that he either will be a leading or number two quarterback for the Texans after Matt Leinart's season-threatening injury ruled him out for rest of the current season. He however was cut by the Texans a couple of days back after they cleared their positions as Taylor Jonathan (T.J.) Yates to be their quarterback number one with backing from veteran Jake Delhomme at number two. Jake had been signed by the Texans last week. The Texans had played their last game with same setting of quarterback positions. As a result they did not see Clemens fitting anywhere and they released him only a couple of weeks after they signed him.Following his exit the Texans have come up with signing of another veteran Jeff Garcia to place him at number three position behind Delhomme and T.J. Yates at quarterback position.Garcia signing follows Delhomme who had returned to the Texans side from retirement he had announced earlier this year (2011).Garcia had some individual workout at the Houston following exit of Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart due to their respective foot and collarbone injuries. The terms of deal were not available immediately however further reshuffle does not come as surprise to many given the reason that the Texans have been making headlines for about last three weeks for their quarterback problems.Jeff Garcia will be the sixth player that will play for the Texans at quarterback position in a period of about a month. It all started from injury of Matt Schaub who had been ruled out for rest of current National Football League (NFL) season due to a foot injury. His replacement Matt Leinart followed him only after a half hour play in his first return since 2009. They then signed Kellen Clemens, Jake Delhomme and now Garcia. They however posed confidence into their rookie star T.J. Yates for starting role at the quarterback position. He played well in the Texans win over their visitors Atlanta Falcons on past Sunday. Yates also enjoys backing from the Texans start quarterback Matt Schaub.
