Houston Texans survive latest injury scares to beat Jacksonville Jaguars – NFL Recap Week 12
Matt Schaub's replacement Matt Leinart became Houston Texan's latest injury scare in their Sunday's game against Jacksonville Jaguars but their defence helped them to survive the setback and beat the Jaguars comfortably 20-13 at
the end.
Texans' defence managed to dictate the flow of the game from its beginning. Its contribution in the later part of the game became even more crucial given the fact that both Matts, Schaub and Leinart, were standing on the sideline
side by side.
Matt Leinart, who was brought in as the Schaub's replacement at the starting position, successfully handed down a touchdown pass to Joel Dreessen. Tate Yates in the meantime managed to add 26 yards while Foster ran for 65 yards
besides a score.
However, it was all the defence effort at the end to help the Texans sustain their lead over Jaguars. They did not allow the Jaguars' offence to go into the red zone.
Tate Yates managed to complete eight of the 15 passes from Leinart, a much relief for him. "I feel for Matt. He was playing good," Yates said. "If there's one thing that this team knows how to do, it's deal with adversity. We've
taken an injury almost every game of the year and the team has rallied around each other and found a way to win."
Jacksonville's Jaguars' situation on the other hand was a total mess. Following six sacks and an interception, their coach Jack Del Rio benched rookie Blaine Gabbert. They were given some boost by the field goal from Luke McCown.
However it was too late to recover the advantage they had earlier given to Houston Texans.
"Offensively, we just are struggling to generate enough productivity to have any fun," Del Rio said. "It's tough to win in this league when you're not scoring. … We are working hard at it, but we are just not making enough plays."
This was fifth consecutive win for Houston Texans. With the win they, 8-3, are leading in American Football Conference (AFC) south division, with a margin of two games. However, with the latest injury scare it is already being
projected that the Texans will find it very difficult to maintain their two games lead for rest of current American football season.
