Houwei Tian advance into main draw of 2012 Li Ning China Open – Badminton News
Men’s Singles campaigner Houwei Tian played with great precision and ensured his presence in the main round of Li Ning China Open on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
He intercepted the compatriot shuttler Guo Kai in the final stage of qualifying round by registering a favourable margin of 21-11 and 21-9.
This hard fought tussle took place in Shanghai and remained in full swing for 31 minutes. Both contenders enthralled the crowd with a decent show of skills and their honest effort was applauded by the local badminton lovers.
Houwei Tian, who is an unseeded player of this tournament, registered his presence by sealing a straight-set win.
Meanwhile, the opposing shuttler could not pocket even a single match point and crashed out in a woeful manner.
The battle heated up immediately in the establishing rallies of opening game as Houwei Tian launched a brisk attack and pushed his competitor on the back-foot.
With 11-5 score on the board, Tian put in a brilliant performance and pushed his challenger to the limit.
After the mid-game break, Houwei Tian he widened the gap with 14-5 and then capitalised his lead to oust his opponent.
Though, Guo Kai strived hard to counterbalance the situation but he failed to hit the mark until game point situation. He looked completely out of touch as he let many points slip from his hands in the final stage.
Houwei Tian made the best out of his competitor’s blunders and finished this game with 21-11 score on the board.
It was an easy road to victory for him in the following game as Guo Kai hardly put any resistance and surrendered tamely.
In first half of the set, Houwei clinched four consecutive points and reached a dominating position of 4-0.
He carried this momentum and piled up an indomitable total of 11 before the one-minute interval.
Later part of the game saw Houwei in prime touch as he did not make even a single mistake and swept the table with a significant lead. He bagged ten out of last fifteen points and locked the honour with a striking knock of 21-9.
