Houwei Tian punishes Jamie Bonsels in Men’s Singles clash at World University Badminton Championship
China’s in-form player Houwei Tian showed a steady performance on court as he did not face any trouble in defeating Great Britain’s Jamie Bonsels in Men’s Singles clash at the 12th World University Badminton Championship in Korea, on Wednesday,
November 7.
The spirited Tian, who has been showing terrific performance at international stage, remained comfortable on court and showed an impressive confidence which helped him to end up the battle in a completely authoritative fashion.
Chinese shuttler did not show any respect to his English rival throughout the clash and remained successful in finishing it up in an easy manner in two games with a one-sided margin in just 38 minutes.
Bonsels, on the other hand, could not put up strong show as he failed to stop the aggression of his Chinese opponent and eventually lost the contest without even getting close on score board.
The hard to match speed and powerful strokes of Tian helped him to take control of the affairs from the initial points and got a wonderful position on the board in opening points.
Chinese player did not show any respect to his English challenger as he played attacking badminton and eventually remained successful in taking a strong position until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the confused Bonsels tried his best to put up strong resistance but he could not create gaps in his rival’s court and remained behind on the board.
On the other hand, Tian continued hitting powerful strokes in targeted areas and easily won the opening game of this clash in a dominating fashion with a huge margin of 21-13.
In the second game, the in-form Chinese shuttler did not show any sign of sluggishness and continued pushing his rival in all areas of the court which helped him to stay ahead until the break.
After the interval, Tian stayed on track by playing positive and planned badminton and remained successful in grabbing the game with a superb difference of 21-15.
Tian emerged as the winner in this fight in a smashing fashion as he overpowered Bonsels in straight sets with a thrashing 21-13 and 21-15 score on the board.
