How, Where, Why, and what did you get your pet(s)?

None of our animals have been purebred (well, except one) and she was given to us.

The rest were from animal shelters and people who just didn't want their dogs any more.

We wanted pets because they add to our family and it's fun to watch them because they all have their own personalities.  Right now we have a neurotic princess, one we think has a split personality, and the other one is a newfie/lab that we think will be reincarnated as a lap dog.

~Dogs- all three labs came from breeders in Maryland.

~Cats- Both were rescues. One was from a foster home, the other was from a vet rescue.

~Bird- I inherited an amazon parrot from my grandmother.

~Frog- Adopted out from a pet store because of his blindness. I took him because I knew I would take proper care of him.

~Fish- Bettas are from petsmart. Goldfish and koi are from a variety of places. They came from Petsmart, Southern States, Lilyponds, and friends.

Why- Because my family loves animals.

I have  an EBT called Tuppy and I had her from the english bull terrier club rescue .. I contacted the British Kennel club and they put me in contact with them. I had owned bull terriers before so I had to write a letter to them and explain why I wanted to rescue one. I also have a JRT which I bought for £80 from my mothers next door neighbor ...I have a chinchilla which I had from a friend who had, had him for 18mths but found him a bit noisy. I also have a budgie which I purchased for £12 from the local pet shop.

Cat #1: Cap'n Sedgewick Fuzznutts III

How: I took her home with me after work.

Where: From the parking lot of a McDonald's where I worked in high school.

Why: It was the day after Christmas, and customers kept coming in and telling us that there was a hungry cat outside. Someone had laid down an old t-shirt beside a garbage can, and she was eating scraps of food people would give her.

Cat #2: Kit Kat

How: My husband (then boyfriend) bought her for me for our anniversary.

Where: She came from PetSmart.

Why: We had visited PetSmart a few days earlier, and she was so friendly. She reached out through the bars of her cage to play with me.

Cat #3: Paddington

How: My husband and I bought her for his mother as a Christmas gift - that she declined.

Where: She came from the same PetSmart as KitKat.

Why: We thought his mom could use some companionship now that he and his sister had moved out. But she didn't want pets. So we took her in.

How: My parents decided to look around for a German Shepard.. again.

Where: At a local animal shelter. Maybe not so local. A German Shepard rescue.

Why: We had a German Shepard before but she died.

I begged my parents for years and years until they gave in and said we could handle a dog. A few days later we visited some shelters and then went to paws & claws. My mom said "were not getting the first dog we see" before we got out of the car. When we went inside a Shepard/terrier mix was behind the receptionists desk and he jumped up onto her desk knocking everything over. We went over and met him and we ended up adopting the first dog we saw :) Its been 7 years.

I got my chinchilla when he was a baby from a friend of mine who was a small breeder. Ive had him for 4 years and hes became a very social chinchilla.

How: we looked on this public ad site that breeeders can post they're infromation on. We found 6 puppies, 5 girls 1 boy. There was one runt, i wanted the runt but my mom wanted this black female puppy and named it pepper. Now she is a 3year old curly toy poodle but still cute.

Why: When i was 9 i wanted a dog like all my other friends. so i asked my mom and she said no. i kept on nagging her for a year, and around christmas i showed her some puppies. she still said no, i started crying and told her i'd take care of it and be responsible for it, walk it, feed it, groom it. Now i dont do that anymore, because shes my moms baby. lol. We got it because it would give me something to do and for me to stop bugging her. ( i know wrong )

My dog is:

Name: Pepper

Age: 3

Color: Pure black

Fur: really soft and fluffy

and is a toy poodle.

I dont really understand what, but i will try my hardest.

What:

I got my dog a dog bed, bones, these special dog hot rod treats, a long leash, a collar, a short leash, a metal foot bowl, a plastic water dish that had this water holder and everytime some left, some would come in, a red dog puffy coat with a fur hoody, a cute sweater, organic dog food, a metal toothed dog brush, a normal dog brush with a soft brush on the other side, balls, frisbee, stuffed animals without eyes and nose, rope.

and she was 500$ pure bred poodle.

Cat:

Boots she was a cat that was persian and white, we got her a toy mouse, food bowl, water bowl, we got her because she was gorgous and my mom thought i needed somebody to ahve i was 3. we gave her away due to my allergise i outgrew when i was 5. We got it from a local breeder.

Cat:

When i was 6 i accepted my uncles cat Mimi who was a siamese cat black and brown. I love her, and had her til i was 8 she was 11 when i got her. One year later she got really sick and threw up so we gave her medicine that helped, then one year later she threw up blood and had cancer, we decided to put her down. we gave her the same things as boots.

Fish:

I was really bored and thought fish were neat, i got 2 gold fish, 3 fighting fish, 2 sharks, 1 silver fish. I gave them each a bowl/container, fish food, pebbles, little ornaments, ect.

Waterdog:

I had these neat water dogs the local pet shop had, i kept them for a year then gave them away cause they were filthy animals that constantly needed to be clean. Mine mutated and devolped horns and wings somehow. http://www.pjlighthouse.com/wp-content/u...

I was young but gave them my iguanas cage and filed it with water, gave them food, and a rock eventually it developed the ability to go on land and water. instead of water.

Lizard:

I had a lizard that obviously had a lizard glass contaner thing, i fed it crickets and worms. I gave it water and a light and practically watched it lol. I got it because they were really interesting. I got it at the petshop.

I had a monarch butterfly for about 2months because it broke a wing in my backyard and i tended it in a cage with a light and holes at the top. I fed it flowers and then once it could fly, i let it go. i kept it and found it because my dad found it in my backyard.

Toad&Frog

I was in the bush and found these two frog/toads. I showed my mom and she went out bought a 15 gallon fish tank, i provided them with water. I bought dead crickets and used a laser pointer to draw attention to the food so they'd eat it.

I once kept a caterpillar in a cage and provided it with grass and plants and water. and i watched it change into a cocoon then a butterfly and let it go.

Bird:

Once we found this bird a robin with an injurded leg at my friend kaylas house, so in her back yard we made a nest and took care of the bird feeding it worms and putting water in a dish for it. eventually it healed and flew away.
