I'm not sure if I am reading your question correctly, but any society can be full of myths, liberal or conservative.  The assumption that one group is more objective than another is a myth in itself.  Even liberals will buy into c**p and perpetuate it as truth.  In any case, the free flow of ideas and information is essential for helping to eradicate myth from society, but that is only effective if the audience is responsible enough to make educated and informed decisions about what information to believe rather than just accepting whatever sounds good as being true.
