How´s My Friend favourite for Burts Naturally Delicious Chips Novices´ Handicap Chase
How´s My Friend has the best chance of winning the Burts Naturally Delicious Chips Novices´ Handicap Chase at Exeter in England on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. A cash prize of £3,249 has been set for the triumphant runner.
The stamina of the participants will be tested in the race, as it is 3 mile long. Nine runners initially lined up for the event, which will start at 4:00 GMT. However, Mercury Bay, trained by Keith Goldsworthy, will not be seen in action today, as he has
suffered a setback.
There will still be a lot of action for the spectators, as eight quality runners will battle against each other. Following are the names of the confirmed entries: How´s My Friend, Thomas Wild, On The Bridge, Bubbly Bruce, Normally, Arctic Flow, Lupita and
Colin´s Desire.
Although How´s My Friend is not in good form at the moment, he is still rated as favourite for the race. The bookmakers believe that he is the best compared to all the participants running today, despite the fact that he is out of form.
The seven-year-old gelding has never won a race while chasing and today will be a very good chance for him to break the shackles. He has entered three of such events and the best he could manage was a third place.
Grant Cann’s trainee will be partnered by Nick Scholfield, who is a very good rider and has won 73 chase races.
Thomas Wild, trained by Philip Hobbs, is another runner who can win today’s race. He is in very good rhythm at the moment, but he has not taken part in any chase races, thus the punters might be a touch hesitant over placing bets on him.
Overall, the seven-year-old gelding has never won any race in his career, which is not good for his confidence. He has a solid chance of fighting for victory today, but will have to be at his absolute best in order to do so.
Thomas Wild will be partnered by young jockey, M. G. Nolan, who has just one a single chase race. However, he has the potential to become one of the best in the business.
Other than the top two favourites, On The Bridge and Bubbly Bruce will also be the ones to watch out for whereas the rest of the pack does not seem to be in good position to win.
