  1. If you light  the second candle after the first one burns out, when you have half of a candle remaining, 15 minutes will have gone by.

    (1 candle=10 min)

    (1/2 candle=5 min)

  2. light one candle.  when it burns down half way, light the other candle.  when the second candle burns out, 15 minutes are up.  or look at your watch

  3. Will u please explain first that what is to be calculated at the end of 15 min?

  4. 1st lit a candle & calculate ur pulse ratesay 800(10 min). Now immeditely place the other candle to the flame

before it goes off .Now count ur pulse rate just 1/2=400(5min). when its done immediately turn it off. ithink that will be most accurate becuz pulse beat is always accurate , if it beats after 1 sec so definitely it will againbeat after 1sec.

  5. Measuring "half" of the length of the second candle is rather inaccurate, even if the candle burnt at the same speed down its whole length. How accurate can a person be at finding exactly the center of an object? To be accurate within 3 seconds of the center, one would have to be not even 1% off from where the exact center is.

That is not to even mention how hard it is to tell what the center of a candle is when half the candle is completely gone. If they were of the same size, you could compare them, but the problem says that they are specifically not the same size. So it would be extremely unlikely for you to tell when half of it burns away.

If that was the correct solution, then other people should note that you would either have to:

    (a) Lean the candle on its side and set the burnt match where the top of the candle is

or (b) mark the middle of the candle by burning it with the match or marking it with your fingernail or something

.. One of those would need to be done so that you know when half of it is gone.

    ----

However, that's not what I think is the most accurate or most reasonable thing to do. What you do instead is:

    (a) Light one match, and light one candle.

    (b) Light another match just before the first candle burns out after 10 minutes, and light both ends of the other candle as the first one goes out.

Since both ends of the second candle are lit, it will burn out in half the time: 5 minutes instead of ten.

    10 min + 5 min = 15 min

  6. Light one candle so you can see your surroundings, find the door, exit the room, find a clock and a comfortable arm chair. When the first candle burns out, begin timing 5 minutes on the clock.

You may now relax in the chair and eat the second candle.

  7. i will finish first candle by 10 min

after that i will start with second candle

when the second candle burn the 1/2    then  the 15 min will be finished

    easy buddy

  8. First burn up two end of a first candle

it will burn in 5 min

the burn one end of other candle

    it will take 10 mins

    done....

  9. Ha hahaha......... light one candle first and keep counting upto 290 then light up an match to see if the candle has reached half mark nd then light up the second candle so when the second candle extinguishes its 15 mintues
