I wanna know how other people did their first backflip. I'm 14 and trying to learn one myself. On the ground though not on a trampoline or off a diving board or something. Did you join gymnastics? Have a friend be your spotter? Flipped into a mattress or pool? Or just went out and said WTF and tried it like that? Also what prior skills or prerequisites did you have? back handsprings, trampoline backflips, other flips, etc. Did you have to get over a fear of flipping if so how? thanks I don't wanna know how to do one cause I know how I just wanna know how YOU did one.

  1. I was doing back handsprings and wanted to try tucks so i went way high (too high for back handspring) and did my tuck...it's quite easy is you get high and set, spot then rotate!

  2. I joined gymnastics. The good thing about gymnastics is that it taught me to do it the right way, and once I got a backflip they taught me to do other flipis and such.

  3. Well I have a tramp in my backyard and I learned to backflip on solid ground by doing backflips on the tramp with no bounce what so ever, and I worked because the tramp make me feel safe.
