How's It Like, Living In London

Question

So I'm moving from New York to London in about a month.

I'll be attending uni in Twickenham [so, not exactly IN London] but I'd like to know how easy/hard it is to assimilate and to make friends with similar interests as mine.

what are some things I'd need on an daily or weekly basis so I can "live like a local"?

I know about the Oyster card, so that's one :]

London also has three Freebie newspapers - Metro in the morning, usually at your local railway station.  In central London late afternoon, London Lite and something called Londoner or some such.  Can't miss them because the vendors thrust them towards you as you go about.

new york is a very busy place and so is london, the people are really friendly and most of them will be going to universty from other cities in england and the world so dont think your the only one.

imagine how many people are at that university they will all have different interests so why dont you join clubs or societys in the unviersity to do with your interests and you will meet people with the same hobbies.

Well, London,as well as New York, is a city where many people from different nationalities live. Making friends may be as easy or difficult as it is to be in a big city... People are very polite and educated, but remember that English people are in general cold and they become friendly once they begin to trust you, and that takes some time... Another thing is that they like drinking beers, talking and playing cards and darts in the pubs. They also love going to fooball soccer matches (Arsenal is the favorite Londoners team). Finally, I'd say it is a good thing to join a club or organization (church, charity, arts, etc.) where to have the opportunity to meet people and eventually, make friends.

Make sure  you wear a bullet proof/stab proof vest at all times. Do not go out after 9pm as it so dangerous. Have about a million pound in the bank as it isn't cheap and be prepared to be very lonely.

The weather can't make up its mind, you can get all the seasons in one day. its expensive. roads are narrow but in the central part of london its nice but more expensive.
