I make good money, but live around NY...everything is so friggin' expensive. I just can't seem to get ahead. Just like to know I am not the only one perplexed by the rising costs everywhere you turn.

  1. I know how you feel.  I live in the SF Bay area.  I'm in the top 20% income earners nationally, yet still live pretty frugally.

Really though, the times aren't that bad for me.  Yes, gas and food are higher.  My mortgage payment stays the same.

Really, what it's boiled down to is that the amount of money I save every month has been cut in half by increased costs.  Otherwise, I'm still living exactly the same.

  2. Oh no, you are definitely not the only one!  Me and my husband's monthly gas budget is $800 (he communtes 45 minutes one direction, I commute 60 minutes the other direction).  Our food budget is $400 and we can barely buy food for the two of us with that!  At least oil is down about $15 in the last week or so!

  3. I'm in SoCal and the only thing going down in price is our home values.  Gas is nearly $5 a gallon, milk and eggs are up 35% since the beginning of the year, electricity and water are in short supply and they are asking us to conserve while sticking it to us on the bill and at least 3 bond issues are coming up for vote to increase our property taxes.  I'm not perplexed that everything is getting so expensive, I am getting frustrated and angry because a lot of it seems to boil down to corporate greed.

  4. My family is doing ok.  And my sister is graduating to college so any other year we would have more money.

  5. Eric, Its very expensive here in Livermore Cali the gas prices are insane here and so is Hi! So your not alone just hang in there!

  6. I just got rid of my gf so that i can buy gas and food
