How's global warming in your neck of the woods?

Weather changes by tens of degrees from day to night and from season to season.  

If the climate warms some fraction of a degree over several decades, how noticeable would global warming be in daily or seasonable weather?  So what was your point about weather, and why is it posted as a global warming question?

Weather in the Sierra Nevada range in California still fluctuates (as it still does in Chicago), and it may surprise some people to hear that winter has not been magically banned, but if you'd like to talk about climate rather than a partial season of weather events, here are the longer term measured trends in trends in the Tahoe Basin:

-- Cold days are fewer: The number of days with average air temperatures below freezing has dropped from 79 days to 52 days since 1911.

-- Nights are warmer: Night low temperatures have risen more than 4 degrees Fahrenheit since 1911.

-- Less precipitation falls as snow: The percentage of snow in total precipitation has decreased from 52 percent to 34 percent since 1911.

-- Lake water is warmer: The average July surface water temperature has increased almost five degrees, from 62.9 degrees F. to 67.8 degrees F., since 1999. The lake's surface waters were the warmest on record on July 26, 2006: 78 degrees F.

As snowpack declines in the Sierra Nevada and in the Colorado River drainage it's not clear where cities from San Francisco to Los Angeles to Las Vegas to Denver are going to get their water in the future.  The Northwest isn't going to fare much better, so our refugees are going to have to go somewhere with a giant source of water nearby.  Chicago may be a good choice.  Hopefully the Great Lakes will last a little longer than Lake Chad.

Wild temp. swings and tornadoes in blizzards,are just some of the effects of climate instability. As each weather record is broken,the parameters become farther apart. How hot will the next record high temp be? How strong will the next record breaking storm be? How deep will the next record breaking flood be? Haven't you noticed that each storm system this winter is a severe one? We might be able to ride out the storms,but food production depends on a STABLE climate. World wide famine is a real possibility in the very near future! We could starve before the other predicted effects of climate change reach their peak.

It's crazy here, warmer than usual and then below average. We are experiencing global warming. It's a normal progression. However, the problem is that it's increasing at a faster rate than it should be based on scientific research. It's pretty rare to have so many scientists agreeing. Science is based on reality. Oy!!!!

that's just weather. climate is measured in decades while weather is measured in days. so although they are linked there is not a perfect correlation. also temps are still increasing.
