  1. I lived in Italy for about 4 months and im mexican...they love mexicans there...well at least they were real friendly with me. If you know spanish you can actually talk to them in spanish and they will be able to understand you somewhat. I love ITALIANS!!

  2. I really don't think you'll have a problem here in Italy. There is a huge Latin American Festival in Milan from June through August, http://www.latinoamericando.it/ and I believe that Rome has a similar event in the summer. Cento has an exchange of participants fro Carnivale with Brazil. Here in the town where I live, one of the better summer shows was a dance troupe from the Amazon that was really well received.

  3. u don't need to stay away from any place....don't worry!! :) we're very hospitable!

  4. of couyrse don't worry about it... i'm italian, and lot of people here love people from south america.... well, if you were from est europe that would be different, we have many crime problems caused by people from est europa but peopel from latin americ are really nice and educate, you won't have any problems!!! ciao

  5. As proved by the recent elections, in Italy there's a growing wave of xenophobia, sometimes overflown into pure racism.

This worrying attitude is strongly oriented against certain nationalities or ethnic groups, with a big impact in Italian society as immigrants (Arabian, Balcanic area, East Europe, Chinese, even the same southern Italians migrated to the north).

The presence of Latin Americans in Italy is really marginal, so there are no particular feelings against them. You can be sure that nobody will harass you for being a Latin American. If the worst comes to the worst, some idiot can treat you with superiority or in contempt, but it's not normal. The normality is that people welcome you and are very kind to a tourist.

  6. there is racisim ... ITalians might look at u.. but I dont think they would say anything to you. Might ignore u if you ask them questions, unless u speak italian.. you might get some respect that way.

  7. There is a widespread subtle form of racism, but quite an "harmless" one, if you pass me the expression. For example, a lot of people don't use the courtesy form (lei) but the colloquial form (tu) when talking to a non-white/caucasian person, which can be annoying if you're over 30. A direct form of harassment is unlikely, expecially if you are a tourist and appear to be one. Again, I don't think Latin American people are the most targeted by racist behaviours: enjoy your holiday and don't worry.

  8. the problem in Italia is xenophobia towards immigrants who want to stay here and live here. You won't have any problem, you are a tourist, don't worry, nobody will hurt you for that!! You should be careful anyway, people are crazy here too!!!

I really hate racism, italian people get worst and worst, i'm fed up with them
