Fighter

To a fighter pain is merely a question

“How can one do better?”

A guide in life

That keeps the fighter on the path

Every obstacle in life is an opponent

On which to impose one’s style

Never foreseeing the outcome

Yet always up for the challenge

Winning and losing

Day after day; Night after night

To feel the glory one more time

Or to be proven once again

Body aching every waking day

And trembling from dreams the night before

Every breath is practiced

Always in the present moment

To all things a student

Even injuries teach lessons

Striving to be healed of all pain

The conflict rages on

The fighter inside is a shadow

A darkness surrounded by light

Life is seen in terms of victories and defeats

Where defeat is a temporary obstacle

Weaknesses exist solely in training

Solely strengths exist in combat

The fighter sees only opponents

  1. You did very well on this poem here

it talks about going through pain day in

    and day out.

    This is also about fighters

If its a fight this is to challenge someone's

    strength and weakness

    This occurs day by day

    night by night

    There are winners and losers

In other words no one stays winning

    and no one stays losing.

Regardless the body is in pain

It is hard to predict the outcome of any fight.

  2. Your poem is very nice and interseting. I like it.

Please have a look at this. It is about Y!A but I really need somebody´s help. Thanx!  http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  3. With all due respects, I found your poem to be very predictable and repetitive. But I do like the concept behind it, as well as your straightforward approach to language. I think

this poem could benefit greatly from some more creative imagery and terminology and an ending with a bit more "punch."
