I love Scotland but my holiday to Florida earlier this year we both feel we want to emigrate to Florida mainly for the weather we also know the how difficult it is to be able to migrate to the States we both love the States the people the country the history and the culture. But with so many Brits moving to the States how do Americans feel about this? Good or bad or indefferent? This question also goes for Australians my cousin moved to Melbourne Australia two years ago and has never looked back she loves it in Melbourne she has a great job and made lots of friends. How do people in other countries about UK citizens moving to other countries like Spain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. I am curious I'm wondering how citizens of other countries feel about this? Thank You.

  1. Why would you want to? I absolutely hate living in America. I've been to england 3 times and I would give my life to live there. America is so borring and old-fashioned, especially florida, its full of old people. I suppose if for some reason you fancy it here, by all means you can come. How about we switch Identifications so I can live in Europe and you can live here and we don't have to worry abt immigration! lolzzzz

  2. I feel they are cool peeps and wouldn't mind them over here.  ")

  3. I can't speak for others, but I'm from Georgia.... so, WELCOME!

  4. If you want to move here, thats GREAT. This is the country of mixed immigrants.

  5. I don't mind anyone coming to the US (preferably with papers already in hand). I think it adds to our "melting pot" and makes our society more interesting.

Although, I am not too sure about Florida. It can be hot and humid during "tropical" weather or just plain hot the rest of the time. Personally, I like South Carolina WAY better - especially Charleston. You should check it out!

  6. I live in Canada: we love pretty much all our immigrants.  As long as they are here legally and for the purpose of bettering themselves and our country.  We frown on non-English or non-French speaking people who come and choose not to participate in the country's growth or learn at least one of our official languages.

  7. America is different. It is a consumerist life style and a consumption based economy. Read novels by Frank McCourt to understand the problem.

  8. Come on over!!!  I don't know many people that don't find the British accent s**y.  Americans love all LEGAL immigrants and being able to speak the language (better than us) is nothing but a bonus for you. I am sure that you would find a bevy of people wanting to tip pints with you and just talking about your native country (since so few of us actually make it there) and giving you advice on what to see in ours.  Welcome!!!

  9. No problems as long as it is done legally.

  10. You can do what you like, but move for the weather?

It's 90 degrees F, most summer days, with 90% humidity.  Unless you live on the beach, it's nearly unbearable.  And don't forget about the daily downpours every afternoon about 4PM.  As you can see I lived there a couple of years, and glad I don't anymore.

Back to your question, I don't have a problem with anyone coming here.  I think it might be a bit of a culture shock for you if you would live in some of the rural areas of the States.

  11. I'm sure the majority of Americans would be indifferent to it. The nation is made of immigrants after all. I myself love living here and am more than happy to share it =). Also it's a nice change of pace to see someone from overseas who doesn't hate America. It's really not a bad place.

I wouldn't really like Florida myself, too many hurricanes and tourists, but a lot of people want to move there.

Whatever you decide, best of luck!

  12. I have no problems with people coming to this country as long as they follow the law and enter the country legally. Good Luck.

  13. My Dad moved to the USA from Glasgow. He worked hard, never drew welfare or unemployment, he paid his taxes, hung an American flag on the front of the house, and he expected nothing from anyone.

Immigration is a sore spot right now in the USA but not for the sake of immigrants alone but because of the immense burden placed on the social system and schooling system by those who do not know the language nor even desire to assimilate.

I believe with the right papers in hand you will be most welcomed. We do things a little different. We don't have the letter u in color (colour), we say that you drive on the wrong side of the road, and we think we're the best country around.

    Welcome!

  14. I love people with a Scottish accent..... loved the country while i was there also.....look into California too.... weather may be even better and the people are alot better

  15. All immigrants that come legally are welcomed, illegal invaders from any country are not.

  16. Indifferent. It's great that you guys already speak English (helps in assimilation) and don't tend to overbreed like a CERTAIN major segment of our immigration population does, but I also think that you should avoid running away from the problems you're facing in the UK right now.

  17. Your welcome anytime, very glad to have you, I love the Brits and I would love to visit Britain, If somebody were to ask me which country would I love to visit, I would say Britain, I might even want to move there but I am from the southern states and we talk pretty slow and say ya'll instead of you all lol! But yeah everbody I know only says good things about Britain, Have a Great Day and come on over any time!!

  18. All immigrants that come legally are welcomed.

    Wish Mexico would learn that!

  19. well for nearly all  Americans they feel that Brits who wants to be in states are like  askers for charity or third world citizens

  20. I think most Americans are indifferent to Brits who relocate to the US.  Two reasons: One I don't think most know who many are here and Two, anti-immigrant sentiment is largely focused on illegal immigration which for most is about Mexican immigrants, not Brits or other Europeans.

If you have a sought after profession: teaching, nursing, engineering, IT specialties, etc, it will be easier to get the approvals.

  21. There are 200,000 Americans living in London alone, in fact London has more American Citizens in it than any other city in Europe.

There are also a lot of Americans living in Europe and overall some 5 million Americans live overseas.
