  1. A spinal cord directs commands and messages to various parts of the body to perform various functions.

    A telephone may send messages, but does not perform any type of function on it's own.

    If the spinal cord is crimped or bent, it can cause physical pain to the owner;

    If the telephone cord is crimped or bent it is still usable.

    If the spinal cord is severed it can cause death

    If the telephone cord is severed it ends service
