How Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Vela-c8558 benefits from the loan move to West Brom
West Brom beat Bolton and Valencia to successfully complete the signing of Arsenal striker Carlos Vela on a loan deal for the rest of the season. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said earlier this month that he wished to send Vela out
on loan so that the Mexican could get more experience. West Brom, Bolton and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 were determined to land the 21-year-old striker, but in the end it was the Baggies who secured the player’s signature.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle was hopeful of signing the Mexican striker from the Gunners, having previously taken http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 on loan from the London side last season. He said in a statement, “If we get the green light then we will
look to act upon it, if not, there we go.” While the player himself was keen on a move to Spanish side Valencia, Wenger insisted that the player remain in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 so he could monitor his progress.
The French manager felt that West Brom were the best option for the young striker as he will get to play first-team football under Baggies manager Roberto Di Matteo. West Brom have been in excellent goal scoring form, finding the
back of the net 29 times in 23 games. The player’s agent Eduardo Hernandez confirmed yesterday that the player would indeed be making a loan move to West Brom for the remainder of the season.
Roberto Di Matteo revealed in a press conference that he was pleased to have signed Vela. “I'd like to officially welcome Carlos, who is an exciting signing for this club. Carlos is a new attacking option for us who can play both
centrally and in the wide areas. He also has great technical ability and pace and we're hoping he can make a big impact during the remainder of the season,” he said.
“There's no doubt that Carlos has the potential to become a great player and it will hopefully be a win-win situation, where we help him by giving him game time in the Premier League while he helps us achieve our goal. Having said
all that, we have to remember he is still a young boy learning his trade and we will be giving him all the support he needs during his time here,” added Di Matteo.
Vela only made four appearances in the English Premier League for Arsenal and those too as a substitute; he has, however, featured more regularly for the Gunners in the Carling Cup, FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League. With West
Brom he will have the chance of playing regular football: in their current formation, Vela will be expected to play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794, the top goal scorer for the Baggies this season.
The Mexican international arrived at Arsenal in 2005 and since then was constantly on the move, being loaned out to a host of teams such as Celta de Vigo, Salamanca and Osasuna. He arrived back at the Emirates in 2008 but since
then, despite a few impressive performances, he has not been able to secure a place in the first-team. Having joined West Brom, he has a better chance at earning a place in the starting XI and gaining valuable experience in the Premier League.
