  1. Well to begin with...if Hitler had forced England to surrender or into a treaty before he turned to Russia it would have been lot easier for them in Europe. Great Britian was on backfoot and the almost all of western Europe except for British Isles was under Axis control.

It would have been nearly impossible for US to jump in and help Allied nations if they didnt have any foothold to land their resources.

Also, US senate for most part and public opinion was against entering the war. It was Pearl Harbour that helped Roosvelt mobilise forces to enter the war and also help Allied forces directly. Had Japan held on to its sights on its western front (South East Asia) US would have probably stayed out of the war for Axis to completely take over Western Europe, North Africa and Middle East.

While attacking Russia, Hitler changed objectives (Kiev & Stalingrad) rather than marching onto Moscow. This combined with fact that they started march into Russia late in year and without enough preparation for the winter resulted in costly defeat on Eastern front.

Japan and Germany did not combine their forces against Russia at same time. It would have been difficult for Russia to push into Poland and Germany if Japan had been engaging them on opposite side.

  2. (i) Germams entered Russia in pre-winter time , penetrated deep and  supply line failed when winter was very accute ie. selecting wrong time.

This mistake repeated so many times by Axis.

(ii) Allied nation forces had better communication , understanding and coordination.

(iii)  Air raids were like scheduled one ( No lightening attack on targets)

    (iv)  shortage of resouces.
