Question:

How Bad is Candle Wax For a Cat?

My cat - despite seeing candles for about a year now - was apparently playing with the candle on the kitchen counter and it tipped, getting a decent amount on the back of its rear left paw. The big issue is that since he took his first l**k to clean himself, he has been freaking out like us humans would if we ate something really spicy. And, this normally playful cat now won't let me near his paw.

Basically, I am more worried because it was a scented candle so it isn't just plain old wax. Any ideas on how toxic it is and/or how I can get it off without him doing anything to get away.

  1. vet.

if you insist on doing this yourself, the wax tastes bad, or is hot.

the wax either burned his paw, or dried and is pulling his fur, hurting him.

wrap cat in towel( this is to prevent the cat from killing you) leave paw exposed, stay away from the mouth. apply a hair drier to the wax, when it melts, wipe off, wash area.

    release cat, then run.

  2. I wouldn't take a chance with what could have been in the candle. Take the cat to a vet.

  3. Take your cat to the vetariane and speak to  him or her and tell her what has happend.
