I was just wondering how bad traffic is around Quincy MA during rush hour? My gf and I are thinking about moving there and my girlfriend works in Norwood, and would have to take 95 to 93 from work. Googlemaps has it as a 20 minute trip, but how long could I expect the average to be during rush hour?

Also, would back roads be recommended, or are those too congested to save any time?

  1. That is the reverse commute and things should flow well barring any accidents.

  2. Ugh, you're bringing back bad memories from college.  There isn't one square inch of 93 or 128/95 that isn't practically gridlock during rush hour.  There really isn't a good back road route, either.  You either have to go north around Blue Hills through Milton or south through Braintree and Randolph.

Me?  I'd plan on about 45 minutes on 93 & 128/95.  You can at least avoid most of the South Shore traffic by picking up 128 below the Southeast Expwy.
