  1. Sit her down (also dad, if he is around) and be as mature as you possibly can _this means not going all emotional and throwing tantys.

State calmly and precicely why you want to go to that school and how much it means to her. Mention you are aware she has some concerns regarding this and ask if there is anything that would help put her mind at rest. You may want to research some things to be prepared for her (i.e.- what courses are available that will help in the real world if singing doesn't turn into a career for you? Payment options, is there a chance of a scholarship?)

Remain calm. I know its hard when you are really into something and there is someone blocking you from doing it but calm is the best approach.

    Good luck!

  2. Oh, I went through this when I was younger too! I also wanted to go to a performing arts school for ballet :)

Okay, I agree that you should ask to meet with her and maybe do it over dinner or something so youre not just starting at each other :)

Tell her why you want to go and why its important for you to go (gives you more chances to be seen in the art world, good experience for your future, will look AWESOME on college transcripts).

Also, find out as much information as possible. Call the school/email and tell them you are dying to get in and tell them the issue with your mother. Im sure they've dealt with those things a million times.

Find out if there are scholarship/loan programs at the school. Find out what/where/when the auditions are and what you have to do. Start practicing now and let your mom see you practicing so that she knows how serious you are!

Check into grants for this as well, this way you are not responsible for paying it back.

Good luck! I'd be interested to know what happens!!!
