Those who claim to be Christian, how do you justify celebrating a holiday that focus on spiritism, something condemned in the Bible?

  1. In this day and age, Halloween is merely a day of getting candy and going to costume parties.  Anyone who treats it any differently is making a mountain out of a what has become a molehill.  Frankly, I think that God could care less about Halloween as we now celebrate it.  I'm over 60 and a Christian; not once in my entire life have I thought of it being anything more than candy or fun parties.

  2. Be Catholic....

  3. Well here in America, Halloween focuses on candy costumes!

I also think you don't know anything about Halloween.

  4. how many people these days actually take Halloween seriously as something other than a dress up, get candy, and maybe have fun at a part holiday? it's become a holiday that's so commercialized there's few if any religious or spiritualistic aspects to it left that anyone actually believes in.

therefore, if one only celebrates it as a commercial holiday unless one follows a sect of Christianity that condemns parties and such there's nothing wrong.

  5. Halloween has nothing to do with "spiritism" whatsoever. Perhaps you should look up what spiritism IS since you don't seem to know?

What today is "Halloween" is loosely based on the Celtic festival of Samhain. Halloween itself today is really just a fun, commercial holiday.

  6. Many don't.  Some local Churches have a "FALL FESTIVAL" near Oct. 31, so their children don't miss out on getting free candy and pennies from their neighbor.  Didn't you hate the neighbor that gave Pennies out on Halloween?  Pennies, what kind of treat is that? Your parents won't let you eat them, and they don't buy anything at the store.  Dumb.

  7. It depends on how serious you treat it...

I knew one Christian family who would lock themselves in their house all night, with the curtains drawn and the lights turned out, kneeling in prayer from dusk until dawn. They were convinced that it was the night of the devil and his demons were traveling about...

    Hey, whatever floats your boat...

  8. Christians should not celebrate Halloween.
