I'd like to know how one can get to Stanford University from San Jose? I get around on public transportation so I'd like to know which buses on can take to get to the University in a timely manner without having to make an all day commute. Thank you!

  1. You should check out the www.511.org transit trip planner as it plans a trip from your origin address to any Bay Area destination address (at link below).

  2. From San Jose to Stanford (Palo Alto) by bus, just take the VTA #522 Rapid line. This is a limited stop route which will get you there more quickly than the standard line #22 which is a local bus covering the same route. The fare is $1.75 each way. Another alternative would be CalTrain which would also get you from San Jose to Palo Alto quickly but would cost considerably more at $3.50 each way and would require transferring to a free shuttle to get to Stanford from the rail station. Good Luck!
