How Can Government Welfare program, take Seniors programs away, like meals on wheels?

Here in this State, We see programs for seniors being taken away everyday, To make way for raises in state and social service programs under Socialist Government, called Welfare.

Except the Welfare is coming out of Social Security funds

for Seniors. Check Social Security Acts I - XXI

Meals on Wheels is not  a free seniors  program. I tried to get it for my elderly parents as I worked thru lunch and dinner. They wanted $66 a day for 4 meals and the lunch was sandwiches and chips.

First find out who is funding the program.

The government provides alot less than you think.

Most meals on wheels programs are privately funded through donations, and are not directly related to any government welfare program.

Some maybe partly funded through government grants, which must be applied for each year.  Those for the most part are suppliment support for the program, and not their main financial backing.

If there are some elderly you are more conserned about, contact your local church, food bank, etc, and see if there is something you can do.

There are more options out there than you can imagine.  But most importantly, support your local charities directly.  Volunteer, donate.  

For a long time, churches did more for the communitity.  Nowdays, your donations seem to be spent on things allowing churches to compete for attendance with one another.. (new sound/light systems, bigger better churches, advertising dollars, etc.)  instead of going back into the community.  People give to their churches, but most stop there, and little goes directly to those who need it.

Too much money is spent on the ridiculous space program.  What is it all for any how?  What a total waste of our tax dollars.

I work for a non profit that fights for senior programs everyday. In this state we have lost 2 important programs. One of them insures decent nutrition. It sickens me the way they are being treated.

Ok people it is not just the war, or welfare those are just small parts of the problems.

It is the health insurance (for life) and lifetime pay and benefits for government workers and politicians.  Right now these expenses are eating up over 30% of the budget, but the politicians bury the numbers and divide them out amongst hundreds of departments so that we, the American taxpayers, cannot see what has happened.

This is only the beginning my friend.  We are going to see roads crumble, the retirement age pushed back to 80 or higher and a tax structure that would make King George proud.  This is what happens when your employees are paid for life, it catches up to you.  Just ask Ford, GM or Chrysler or any of the companies that have eliminated American suppliers and their own American employees.

A reckoning is coming, but I am sorry for your unmet need.

Until we quit asking our government to be our mommies and daddies, we quit arguing about the war and abortions and g*y marriages, this is what we will be forced to live with.

It is basic economics and finance.  And I know how unpopular my opinion is, but mark my words it is going to get much, much worse.
