How Can I Get Into Running Shape?

I'm a guy and I'm 14 years old. I'm almost 6 foot and I weigh about 135 pounds. So I'm not overweight or anything like that im just interested in getting more fit. I use to run 30 minutes everyday on my tredmill but stopped because i got to held up in school and guitar. I have a tredmill and I'm able to use it any time of the day and its in good shape. What's the best way to start getting into shape, I'm not sure what speed to set it at or how long to run for. I'm not so out of shape that I can't run; i can run just not for a long long long time. If you put me in a hockey game I could do perfectly fine I'm just wondering, where should I start?

  1. Self concious about weight? if you are trying to gain muscle add weight to your body and work it!


  2. you should work your way up do running for 5 min maybe 5-7 speeds then fast walking for 5 min 3-4 speeds and keep doing that until you reach 30 min


  3. I seem to find that tredmills dont get me in shape. I started running outside at night gets your lungs alot stronger and you sweat more to loose more fat. Id start off with sprints 20 minutes a day and then go for like a 2 mile run and work your way up.

  4. Start by running around you neighborhood. If it's small, run a few laps around your neighborhood. Make a playlist on your iPod of all your favorite upbeat songs that totals 30 minutes. So when your playlist is over you know when to stop. I would reccomend running every other day, and when you get good start running everyday. Have fun and good luck! Hope I helped! :-)

  5. join track at school or start swimming at the local pool, join a swimming team, or join another sports team when school starts.
