How Can I Hear And Start To Talk To People On Xbox 360 Live?

I no my headset works because when i play Call Of Duty in private matches with friends I can hear them really clear but as soon as i go into a random match when anyone is aloud to play it sont work, but when I talk a little speaker comes up in the corner and also when I press 'Select' button it says iv muted everyone and it says press 'A' button to umute but it dont work. =/

Family or Privacy Settings are stopping you talking

Go to the System Blade, select Family Settings, XBOX Live controls, sign in, Select Privacy and Friends and set Voice and Text to everyone

Or change them in your Privacy Settings through your gamercard
