Question:

How Can I Know If I Have A Negative Chexsystmes Record?

I owe Washington Mutual Bank about 300 dollars from my checking account being in the negative, currently the account is still open, but they keep telling me any day now it will be closed and sent to collections and reported to ChexSystems.

I also owe a credit union about 400 dollars, again for a negative balance, i have owed this amount for almost a year now.

I was still able to open a account at US Bank just recently, about a month ago.

Im wondering, how can i know when i have been reported to ChexSystems? How long does it take to be reported to ChexSystems in the first place? Once i am reported, will that prevent me from opening new checking accounts?

Not to be rude, but i know i need to get my finances together, please spare me from any lectures. Thank you.

  1. Go to this website www. chexhelp.com and order your free yearly report.

  2. Have you tried working with them?  It seems like your jumping from bank to bank, using overdraft protection and changing banks.

They will report to Chex.  When they report is up to them.  Probably they will close the account, send you a final letter and then report.  They will send it to collections and/or take you to court.

This will prevent you from opening an account at most banks.  There are a few who dont check Chex, but most do.

You can get a free report by going to the chex website.  Last time i checked mine i just said i was worried about fraud, and it was free.

This data will remain for i believe 5  years. Work with your lenders, because its hard as h**l to get the info off of your Chexs.  Plus i dont know what your profession or future profession is, but more and more employers are checking credit, including Chex if your in any financial position.
