  1. It depends on the extension of the file. Word is pretty robust. Try this. Right-click on the file, then, if you are given the option, choose Open with. After that, choose program, then select MS Word from the list.

  2. It depends on the extension of the file.

1 Right-click on the file, then, if you are given the option, choose Open with. After that, choose program, choose MS-Word from the list , if it is not in the list then click on browse and then give the path of file "winword.exe" in the ms-office forlder and click open.

    OR

    2. start ms-word, click on file menu and then open ,in this window at the tag, "File type's" choose "all files"  now give the path of the file you want to open ,and click open.

  3. right click the file and go to "open with" and a list of available programs come up. some files can only be opened in certain programs so......

  4. That depends on the type of file you're trying to open.  Word can handle a bunch of formats, but they're all word processing formats.  It can't, for instance, open a graphics file (.jpeg, .gif).

It also must have the right file converters installed from the Office Installation CD.

Primarily, though, Word handles files with extensions like .doc and, for the newer Word 2007, .docx.  Older versions of Word can also be taught to handle .docx files if you download and install the free Microsoft Compatibility Pack.

    Hope that helps.

  5. Double-click it.

If you have Word, it will open it.

    Don't have Word?

Download Open Office.Org (OOO), It is FREE and Open Source, meaning the public supports it.  In my opinion, it's better that Microsoft Word or Microsoft Office.

It is a complete suite of applications like Microsoft Office.

    It will open Word files.

It will allow you to save files in many different formats including Word.

    ;-)
