Question:

How Can I Throttle The Download Speed Of A Networked Computer?

I have 2 computers running from a wireless modem (SpeedTouch 585).

Is there anyway I can limit the internet speed of one of the computers, so that downloads etc. can not exceed a certain speed (Kb/s) and consume all of the internet bandwidth?

Open to all options, but would much prefer a free solution if there is one!

  1. Shoot man I did something similar to this to speed up my wireless but if it is any similar to my router.... you can only limit wireless in general.  Your technical support could hopefully help you or a FAQ on their website.

  2. You can do this only if your router supports QoS.

  3. for free option setup a linux box, try setting up shorewal it has capability for qos manegmentl, also try this how to http://szabilinux.hu/bandwidth/index.htm... if shorewall doesn't work for you., you can also use ddwrt search it on google and see if your oruter is compatible with it.

for your nonfree option buy a switch or router than can do qos, or install
