Hey I'm 16 years old with a major conflict right now. My parents 100% dont support my dream and passion for becoming an actor. I've looked at a lot of agencies that excepted me but my parents wouldn't let me join. Is there anyway I can get into it before I'm 21 without my parents pulling me down? I'd really appreciate it. I also have (or had) another interview with Barbizon acting and modeling agency this Sunday at 2pm but my parents wont take me is there anyway I could start my career at this time without them? Quite a few times I've thought of running away to pursue it but thats a little guttsy (if I'm spelling that right) for me.

  1. Hello there!!! Im sorry to hear about your parents not agreeing with your dream....however until you leave home (probably for college)  theres not much you can do....i would suggest getting some experience and working to become a better actor.....hopefully you can follow your dreams   maybe you can sit down with your parents (set a date and time) and tell them how you feel and why you want to do this (rehearse this part)  and then ask them why they won't give you the chance   im sure theres a good reason   tell them this is your dream and passion.   Also remember to tell them agents don't cost a thing because they might think they do cost money  Good Luck  I hope you can work things out with your parents    Just remember to be proffesional and show them you are serious about this          It worked for my parents

btw thats so funny you answered my question and i answered your question lol  thanks for the advice

  2. well to be realistic you'd be caught as a runaway or a pimp would probably pick you up and put you into prostitution and i'm sure you don't want that.

  3. I think You suppose to be 18 to be able to do stuff without parent support

    I'm sorry!!

  4. i would recommend looking into colleges with fantastic acting programs.  this is what i recommend to anyone young looking for a career because these days its really hard to succeed without proper respectable college training.  this also might be kind of a compromise because your parents will see you are planning to get educated but primarily in the field you are passionate about.  it will all be much easier career-wise during and after college.  your college experience will show you how to get agents and work professionally; its much easier with a degree, experience, respect, and your education and college program backing you, as opposed to rightnow with your youth and lack of support.  once youre 18 and in school its in your hands, and once you're 22 and armed with a degree and know-how you have all you need, their opinion wont matter much.

  5. on yahoo answers then gonna jump in shower then elite practice! =D

  6. You can't. You are a minor and would have to be accompanied by a parent on any of your jobs.

The best thing for you to do is get experience either in community theatre of school.

By the way, Barbizon is not an "Agency". They do not book models and actors...it is a finishing school. They will want money to "Sign" you and then have you take ridiculous "acting" and "modeling" classes from them taught by unqualified people. Beware.
