How Can I convert a video into Imovie format??

Question

My video camera takes videos, but it puts them in a panasonic image mixer program....I want to convert the files into an i movie format on my mac. If there are programs that I can purchase, or some free software, that would help!!

If the camcorder is miniDV tape based, use a firewire cable to connect your camcorder to the Mac - You will need a 4-pin (camcorder DV port) to 6-pin (Mac's firewire 400 port). :aunch iMovie and import.

If the camcorder is a hard drive or flash based camcorder, you need to download and install StreamClip (free from Apple). Connect the camcorder using a USB cable. Copy the files from the camcorder to the Mac. Import with StreamClip. Save as DV. Import to iMovie.

ImageMixer is Windows only. The .mod file is a modified MPEG2 format.

iMovie accepts mov video, you may try aimersoft video converter for mac, I always use it to convert video for my iMovie, it's easy to use and works nice for me, here is a step by step guide about it
