Question:

How Can I get Jet Blue to change my flight for free?

We booked tickets to California about a month ago and now need to change those flights because of a conflict in timing. Jet Blue wants to charge $100 per ticket to change (six tickets). Has anyone had any experience where Jet Blue was willing to waive the fee? I know sometimes it just depends on getting the right person on the phone but so far we haven't had any luck.

  1. Dan is 100% correct. $100 isn't too bad to change a ticket on an airline like Jet Blue who have such low prices to start with. The change fee is an integral part of their revenue. They offer dirt cheap tix on the condition you do not change them. If you do want to change then they charge a service fee.

I think this is a much farer system for those who do stick to their original as they don't have the cost of other people's changes built into their ticket price.

All that aside I have heard that begging, crying or continual phone calls until you do get someone on the phone willing to break the rules has worked with some airlines.

  2. Tara, I doubt that this will happen for you. Your ticket is actually a contract. Why would they want to give up $600? Would you be willing to give up $600 if you were in business?

    Dan
