How Can I make my Mile in Under 9:00?

I wana make my volleyball team, but need to get it under so I can get through the first part of tryouts. Any tip on how to run correctly and more efficent?

  1. Start of at a steady pace and save your energy then towards the end just run a hard as you can


  2. I hope you have been running everyday! So practice and pace yourself.  I ran track. and most people did 4 min miles.  

  3. Don't sprint cause you will tire yourself out. Pace yourself. Run at pace that you can keep up with throughout the whole mile.

  4. practice runnig and time yourself, have a good pace when runnig. i had to run a mile under nine min. for volleyball too. i went runnig about three or four times a week and i made it  

  5. 1) Don't eat or drink too much at breakfast.  You'll feel heavy and sloshy and you'll be more likely to throw up.

    2) Stretch well before running so you don't pull your muscles.  Inexperienced and cold runners are likely to pull their hamstrings, which are essential for volleyball defensive stance.  Pull those, say goodbye to tryouts.

    3) Breath steadily in time with your feet.  Concentrate on the in-out-in and you won't feel the pain in your legs as much.

    4) Use good form.  Watch a youtube video of Olympic long distance runners to see the proper arm motions and leg striding forms.  Your legs will hurt less if you run properly.

    5) Run often!  If you've never run a mile, you're gonna have a hard time getting it under 9 minutes unless you have natural talent, so run everyday until tryouts with a stopwatch and try to beat your previous time each day.
