Selective harvest, significant replanting, and forest operational management, including weed/disease control and fertilization as needed.  Yep, it ain't organic, but it works.  Get used to it.

It is a needed resource, that should be studied before it is eliminated, but the resource shall be managed and not just left alone.  The people in those countries have as much right to control their lives as we in the developed nations do.
