How can we as individuals and as a whole set an example for anyone else if we hate each other because of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, etc. and seek to assimilate, label, and discriminate anyone whom is different?

  1. Who said we hate each other.. I think we care and love

each other, we just argue about stuff that takes away from

the good things we have and hopefully some one will listen

and keep us on track.  Try listening to a foreigner who

hates us it has so much propaganda in it it makes you ill..

and they won't listen or  move back to where they came from.

but if they  like us, we love them..

  2. What a provocative and profound question!

In my view, the average American is so caught up in consumerism and the bizzare pursuit of the American Dream (illusion), that s/he couldn't even begin to understand the position and subtle nuances of your questions.  Whether that is a result of stupidity, ignorance, or the pure pursuit of all things material, I can't readily say ... however, I do believe the phenomenon doesn't discriminate ... it is viral and pervasive throughout all sectors, peoples, and classes of the nation.

To answer your question directly ... we can't.  The hypocrisy is so rampant and entrenched that other nations -as little as 5 years ago- that wouldn't dare to criticize or raise issues with America now do so regularly with a sence of glee and impunity ... and who can blame them?!

The world's bully has finally lost favor -and strength- and has been uncovered and made to stand naked on the world's stage and be shown for the hypocrite it is.  In my view, the pinnacle of American supremacy is behind us and, in those 37 days in November and December 2000, when nine robed justices usurped the people's vote, the slide down the slippery slope was officially under way.  Arguably, the nearly eight years since then have been a relentless and scathing documentary of the precipitous fall from grace of the United States of America.

And that truth -and resultant fear- is best measured by the fact that the bully, naked, shaking, and in fear of losing its intimadation factor, bolsters its image not through diplomacy, apology, or truth-seeking ... no, instead the bully ensures its failed legacy by having the largest military budget on earth ... with about 200 or so nations across the globe, the bully is responsible for nearly 50% of all the world's costs spent on arms and defenses.

Brawn never did -and never will- set the example for brains ... it just took this country 232 years to realize it wasn't founded as a free and exemplary nation and, in 2008, it's anything but that.

  3. As a teenager I left the us to live in Europe. I can not really answer your question - but - I can tell you this....

You don't know true freedom until you have lived in Europe.

That was the first thing a felt when I arrived in Europe - you are really really free.

Maybe that's the problem... you are not really free in the USA, you only think you are.

The last time I was in USA with my teen daughter she asked me why they have to have a black women week? She could not understand why it was not called women week as all women are the same no matter what the color of her skin.

(Boy that was a hard one to explain)

For me I can only say the only place I ever felt the color of my skin was in the USA.

Not sure if this is the info you are looking for , but I hope it helps.

  4. Americans don't hate each other. You are watching too much T.V. and probably don't have a job. Get out in the world and meet people. You are going to find that the vast majority of people, 85%, are great. Stop focusing on the 15% that are idiots.

As far as assimilation, the only thing I can think of is language. Sorry, but if you can't speak english, you are going to get passed up by those who can. You must speak english to truly access everything America has to offer. It's not hate, it's just a fact of life. If you live in France, you have to speak French to do well there. It's true everywhere.
