  1. the mice can bite the snake

  2. you got my answer on the other post

again it's all in the irresposibility of the pet owner

and mister anonymous below me posted a pic of exactly what i was talking about that pic was taken when a snake was left unattended overnight with a mouse in it's enclosure always make sure your snake kills it's prey before you leave it unattended if that is the route you decide

  3. I don't think mice are typically very aggressive but personally I wouldn't take chances. I used to feed my boa live rats and she only got a few scratches over the years. Then one day I turned my back for too long and a rat chewed most of her scales off. We spent a lot of time and money caring for the poor thing because we felt so guilty but after a month or so she finally died. If you do feed live you have to supervise the entire thing. Otherwise you can buy frozen and thaw, which tends to make your kitchen and any pot smell terrible. Or you can buy live and before you feed just hold them by the tail and smack them on something solid. Okay yes this sounds horrible, but so is a descaled snake and it's an instant death. In the case of my boa slowly strangling things to death it seems like a better way to go. Either way, feeding dead usually goes over fine if you dangle the food in front of the snake. Freshly dead mice are still warm but the frozen ones need to be brought back to a normal temperature or most snakes won't recognize them as edible.

I didn't notice the "How..." but my answer still basically applies. They can be scratched, bitten and in rare cases descaled or even eaten.

  4. There is no one answer to this question.

Mice that are produced for the purpose of feeding tend to not be raised as well as they should be.  This means that they may have been introduced to many different types of bacteria and parasites.  When you feed the mouse to your snake it can transfer the parasites and bacteria to your snake.  Freezing the mouse will kill the parasites and bacteria so that there is no risk of accidental infection.

Mice are also very inquisitive and will investigate their surroundings by tasting and nipping things.  If your snake doesn't eat it right away there is the risk of the snake being bit by the mouse.  A lot of captive raised snakes have never been fed live and will not take them so the live mice wind up doing more damage to the snake then the snake does to them. There is also the possibility of the mouse not being properly constricted by the snake and scratching the snake badly.  Any abrasion made by a rodent can become infected and cause a lot of health problems for the snake.

    I hope this helps.
