How Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago need to take more responsibility for their personal safety ?

3 killings have occurred on the city streets in the last few weeks-on Feb 9 chopped and stabbed to death on St Vincent St, Diego Martin resident was killed by gunmen on Independence Square on Feb 15 while buying DVD from a vendor who was also shot,while on Wednesday businessman Marlon was gunned down on Frederick St. We are all concerned about people being killed in the city but people need to be more vigilant and alert of their surroundings.Anyone can decide within a moment to harm another,so as individuals we have to be alert what is around us.It is a very serious blow to our city and country when barbaric acts can take place in full view of the public 3 murders are also part of a 60 plus murder tally within the first 2 months of the year.The murder toll for the year now stands at 65.if people witnessed a crime, no one going to come forward and say society remains scared of the crime situation and there is no sense of protection in the country.The criminals have no fear.

WATCH OUT....And here I am making plans to return home permanently! Lord please heal my land and protect my people.This country has become lawless and its plain to see how incompetent the security minister, the police commissioner and the government on the whole is when it comes to dealing with crime. We need to demand changes in the people we hire to protect us before its too late.

WAKE UP...To the People of Trinidad, you have a serious problem, with crime. To small of a country to have all this crime.So this was a good law abiding person! Was he in the wrong place at the wrong time. I have been living here in Florida for the past 21 years, every time I talk to someone in Trinidad and ask about the crime, they tell me he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. So Trinis, tell me where is the right place at the right time. You need to educate people on how to do CPR and how to compress a wound. People are just watching people dying without the knowledge of how to keep them alive until the ambulance attendants arrive. You also need to educate the ambulance attendants, maybe, they don't know either. Just now no one will be left alive in SOUR T&T. I am so fed up with the situation over there.

Well, well, well, we see it every day. Criminals with guns rule. Shooting people broad, daylight in the heart of town, is no problem for them. It is high time the state have a killing spree of it's own. Start executing the b******s or prepare to have things go even further out of control, with no end in sight. It's already a very bad state of affairs. We need to actively hunt these criminals down 24/7 and bring an end to their rule.

Prime Minister and National Security, Please take down the blimp in the sky, put cameras and gunshot dectection system in hot spot areas. Those who choose to do crime, put them away for a long time. Put those Polices and Lawyers away for a very long time, they should know better.That is a bold criminal. I know I am asking a lot, but people have to testify and show these criminals they can not take control of the country. Police must step up and assure the citizens they will be protected when they go as witnesses. And the cops need to be honest, and stop dealing with the criminals, because I have to wonder if some of you all policemen/women are criminals or criminal informants yourselves. That is just too much lawlessness. Brazen attacks in crowded areas in the day. Stop giving the thugs free reign of the country. Why is it the criminals roam freely and the decent law abiding citizens live in fear behind all the burglar proof bars in their homes like they are the criminals. Prayers is the answer along with some moral and family value in the house. All these fatherless thugs only mothers I witness weeping for their children. It is time someone starts preaching about bringing THE FAMILY back. Mother, Father and children. Stop dropping your sperm off and running. Take care of your household and there will be a reduction in crime, because from an early age they will know they will be held accountable for ill doing. Has anyone notice there is a difference in children when they are raised in that environment. Where they have parent figures. Does not have to be biological, but must be respected. Consistancy. a next brazenmurder on FREDERICK ST.JUST one week ago amurder case was thrown out.THERE should be foot patrols and undercover POLICE on that street.IT is time to bring in FOREIGN HELP .THE locals dont have aclue with what is going on.Murder and shootings are occuring now at the heart of the capital, where killers feel free to kill people. This is horrific and you are telling my the killer got away on busy Fredrick Street, where were the police patrols when this happen, and why only one person helped this poor guy? The government should step up to the plate and prevent criminals from doing what there want, soon enough Trinidad be in a state of no return.and I am sure that nothing will come of this because there will be no witnesses to testify before the courts as usual. Got to love the system in T&T.Any citizen of T.T. is a bulls-eye target to criminals roaming the country. Even if this man's lifestyle was in question, no citizen has the right to 'take him out' in broad daylight. What has this country turned into? Our Prime Minister and his gang of roving loyal Members and Protective Services are living in a constant state of denial - in a fools paradise. If crime is not a problem in T.T. then why is it necessary for the P.M. to have 75 private security guards around him 24 hours a day? How many million dollars are being spent on an annual basis to safeguard this P.M.? CRIME - Own it now people in charge and then you can begin to make real changes. This money can be used in real proactive programmes that would see results from the very beginning. It would appear that this government is intent on keeping the natives in a constant state of fear, fooling them with crumbs from time to time and making them dependent upon the government to think for them. Educate your people in its true sense. I see a whole generation/race of people being annihilated before our very eyes. Mr. Prime Minister is this your goal for the year 2020? Please speak up now.

In spite of the comments others may give on different occasions - all who have answered agree on the fact that OUR security is non-existent, personal security isn't held in high regard and sad to say, the lawless are ruling our freedom of speech. Whether we learn CPR, or compress a wound there is no backup and the Gov't agencies are quick to blame in order to repress their our inefficiencies. We have to pick our fights
