How Come High School Reunions are never held at the High School you graduated from?

I have never seen a High School Reunion that has been held at the high school that class graduated from. I would think that would be the best place to have a reunion, since they're supposed to be all about reliving old memories and stuff, right?

  1. I've just been to my High School reunion - not at the High School of course, but we did get a tour of our old High School before everyone got together at the Reunion.

High Schools are generally not set up for a gathering of people older than High School age - when you are talking about serving drinks (alcohol generally not allowed on school grounds), dinner, the catering and events - just more appropriate to have somewhere set up for such events.

  2. Probably because everyone has moved away and the persons organising the reunion have tried to make sure that the venue is central for the majority of people. You can still re-live old memories through conversation, catching up with everyone. Mind you, school reunions are usually all about what people are doing now. Are you married, have you got kids, where do you work - have you got a successful life. It can be a nightmare really!

  3. I don't know. Most of the high school reunions I've seen have taken place at the high school graduated from.
