How Come You Can Have s*x At 16, But Cant Watch It Till Your 18?

The law says that an adult is a person who has reached the age of 18 years, and therefore, is responsible to handle mature actions and accept mature consequences. However, this was passed long before the times changed, and anyone realized that the culture perspective on sexual activity would change. A few centuries ago, and even a few decades ago, having premarital s*x shamed your family, and the options available today for unmarried, single parents weren't available then.

Now that the culture perspective on s*x is accepting of having intercourse at a young age, the law hasn't caught up. Besides which, most teenagers who do commit sexual activity before the age of 18, are not usually mature enough to handle adult actions and consequences. Its unfortunate that s*x, today, has become the 'it' thing to do because of its appeal for popularity and search for 'true love'.

Keep in mind that some states do have laws that prevent teenagers from participating in sexual activity, under certain circumstances.

Well yes and no.

The reality is that you shouldn't have s*x until your married....if you are religious one. Watching p**n at 18 has been passed as a law. Your a minor until age 18. You really can have s*x at any age, just don't get caught. Same with watching p**n. Not all laws and regulations are created with equality in mind.

Also keep in mind, each state has a set age were s*x is appropriate. In places like Kentucky you can be 14. So any dumb a$$ who claims it is statutory rape is a tool. Statutory rape is when some of the legal age has consented s*x with someone under the legal age limit; i.e. California law states that the legal age for s*x is 18, thus if someone who is 18 or older has consented s*x with someone who is under the age of 18 could be tried for statutory rape.

Take for example the fact that you can enlist in our military at 18, 17 with parents permission. This means you may be sent to a combat zone, thus being responsible for other individuals lives, carrying a weapon. We put other peoples lives in the hand of 18 year old kids and expect them to also take the life of another human at that age, yet the law states that you must be 21 to gamble and buy a beer. Doesn't make since at all.

Look at the prohibition of marijuana. It was not put in place because it is dangerous. In fact, its use has little negative effects, certainly not nearly as much as using alcohol, smoking, and almost all prescribed drugs.

There are hundreds of laws and rules that make little since our are biased. It's life and it sometime sucks. Chalk it up as an experience and when you turn 18, go vote.

You may be able to legally have s*x, but that doesn't make it right morally.  Watching s*x movies is considered an adult oriented priveledge.  You are still judged to be a minor at 16, and with 18 comes some adult priveledges and rights.

depends on the state laws. in california, and other states, consensual s*x is not legal until the age of 18. and some sexual acts in general are illegal (even though they are still widely practiced) for any age group.

in nd you can be 14 and have s*x. you can also have your driver license at 14. in wisconsin you can drink at the age of 18 with the consent of a parent. all these ppl are stupid. b/c in the end all that matters is if you get caught. and you wont/ so quit letting the government scare you into stupid shiv and watch all the p**n and have all the s*x you want. also drink and do drugs

This is the same kind of question asked about people joining the army at 18, and even 17 w/ parent consent, but can't drink until you're 21, and can't get a parent to consent that. lol!

Its all hypocritical about how our law works.. we can die for our country at 18, but can't have a sip of liquor until 21...

But you can watch it before 18, its called the internet or cinemax... just not "legal"

Actually you cant have s*x at 16 as it is called rape of a minor.  The reason for all of this is that it is too young at 16 to realize that if mistakes are made, you will be a child raising a child.  More often than not the guy will hit the road and leave the girl alone to decide what to do.  I am against abortion and would rather see you wait for s*x until you can deal with all of its aspects.

Actually, you can;t have s*x at 16. That is considered statutory rape and you can be prosecuted. Don;t confuse the fact that you are able to do it with anything. If you have friends or are willing to lie, you can watch s*x films at 16, especially with the internet

To comment on this, in some countries/ regions the legal age of consent between 2  consenting people is as low as 14, where in others it's higher, up to 18,or even 21.

Possibly the reason that you can't watch s*x legally is that some of the film makers have taken it to the farthest boundaries, and some of the things they are including in the films is gross beyond belief.

Unfortunately, the age limit makes it something that young people want to watch underage, simply because of the curiosity factor.

As for the armed forces, in the UK you can enlist at 16, but generally in the junior ranks learning your trade, so it makes it that you can be killed fighting for your country, yet not allowed to drink, or watch other adult material, surely if you are old enough to fight and die, then you are old enough to watch adult material.
