I'm going into 7th grade, and I'm in regular math. However, at the end of the year I take a test to see if I can be in Algebra in 8th Grade instead of 9th. What is it like? I really want to do great on that test and be better then everyone else. Sounds mean, huh, but that's it!

  1. Did your teachers give you any algebra textbooks or workbooks to use?

If not, you can go to bookstores like Chapters or Barnes and Nobles and look for algebra textbooks/workbooks. The only real way to learn algebra or any other kind of math is to practice doing it. DONT memorize, you have to understand what you are doing and solve the problems on your own.

Math is both the hardest and the easiest course in school. That is why the majority of people do very well or very bad in math. Practice is the best way to do well in math.

I strongly recommend doing this test because it will show you where your strengths and weaknesses are in math and can then learn from your mistakes and perfect your mathematics skills.

Once you master algebra, you can go to something more challenging like calculus?

  2. Look up some practice problems. Maybe get your math book and try to work ahead. Personally, I didnt skip 8th grade math to Algebra. Several of my friends did though and they are struggling now. But as long as you think you can keep up go for it!
