Question:

How Do I Make Friends At University?

Okay, so I just settled in to University. And everyone is rowdy and desperate for party and alcohol. And I just can't bring myself to like those sorts of people or even hang out with them. I am a quiet person and it seems it's pretty much a taboo to not want to party.

So how do I make friends? Clubs organizations?

  1. At my university there are many clubs that you can join depending on your personal choice of what interest you might have. For example, international club, book clubs, just go to your RA and she might be able to tell you what clubs are available. You can even try to open your own club if one doesn't exist. Good Luck!

  3. library

    laundromat

    just anywhere - be fiendly

  4. The best thing you can do is join some organizations.  You will make life long friends, business connections, and your resume will be that much better.  Search your college's website and there will probably be some that peek your interest.  Another place you can make friends is in class.  If you are a shy person, you can take advantage of small group activities to make some connections.

  5. Dig a little...not everyone is into just a party scene.  Every major has a professional club or honor society...check some out.

Most schools also have religious groups (not just for zealots, either!)  Hillel or the Neuman Centers are great ways to meet people, and you don't have to be overly faithful - just interested!

  6. Read Dale Carnegie's book "How to Make Friends and Influence People"
