I don't mean like a Blogger or Bebo. I mean how you choose your own independent URL (not blablabla.blogspot.com) and you can use your own pictures, do I need microsoft Frontpage? And if I can get a copy of frontpage, how do I publish the URL?

  1. When I was looking for good quality free web templates, I found a lot of c**p but I also discovered some real gems... The 'best of the best' are at the source link below.

Take a look, you'll find some really cool templates and themes for all types of sites such as html, css, flash, wordpress, joomla and more.

You may see something that catches your eye.

  2. You have to find a web host first and pay monthly fees. Then you have to use a good program for website development. Frontpage is kinda for beginners.

  3. If you want to start making websites I know a few where you can go to make your own website. On these you can either have a domain name like yourdomain.com or have your domain be yourdomain.thewebsite.com   You have your own domain without another websites.com you mostly have to pay for it. Here are some sites that can help you. http://www.synthasite.com  or  http://www.weebly.com

It's a step by step thing.I mostly perfer weebly.com because in that after your done with what you want to put on your website then you can go back to weebly.com after you've saved your website and published it (without paying) if you dont want to and it has a graph thing that can tell you if anyone has been to your website. Come check my websites out:  http://www.mycommunications.weebly.com

  4. What they said....

FrontPage, thankfully, is no longer in production. If you do happen to find a copy, do the world a favor and whip that bad boy into a fire along with your AOL free trial discs.

Microsoft now has Expression Web as their design tool. Not the worst thing, much easier to learn than Dreamweaver but not nearly as effective, and I have had some issues getting it to behave.

Dreamweaver is the software to have if you are running anything professionally.

Publishing works simply by putting your web files on your server at your root folder. That will likely make more sense when you purchase/procure some server space...

  5. Check out this link.

  6. If you want to use your website to build your business or be a profitable business, I recommend Site Build It!

I'm using Site Build It! for the site I'm building which is http://www.panama-city-beach-vacations.c... I'm old enough that I didn't have my first computer until sometime after college...and you can see how far I've gotten with minimal frustration. You do not have to know or use any HTML (or Front Page) with their system. However if you do know HTML, you can use it.  I have quite a few of my own pictures on mine and also a video and a slide show.

It's more than software...It's a complete system. What I really like best is that they take you STEP by STEP through everything from choosing a profitable topic to planning and research to choosing a good domain name for people and search engines to building the site to submitting to search engines to building traffic and more. If you can read or listen to their step by step instructions, you can do it! It takes time and effort, but all businesses do.

http://www.sitesell.com/Brenda55.html is their info/ad page. The 2.5 minute video near the top is a good quick overview. The rest tells you...probably more than you'll need to know.

    Have fun with it!

  7. You can get a free website with Microsoft Office Live Small Business - http://starturl.com/officelive . It has a free design tool that allows you to create web pages without coding. It has 500mb of web space and no ads. MS is giving a free domain name (a real .com) for the 1st year.

  8. Try Blink Web or Weebly, their easy to manage free website (or blog) has cool features that include drag and drop capability, switch designs on the fly, youtube and google video, custom html, upload images, flikr photo gallery, visitor stats and more.  You can also buy a new domain instantly, or host your existing domain for free and make it your own (www.yourown.com)

If your looking for something more advanced but still user friendly then try Easy Site Web or Site Builder Designs, they have everything you need in building your own website: domain name registration or domain transfer, web hosting, web builder, site maintenance and email accounts. Everything is laid out in an easy to follow step by step instruction. Some of the features included enable you to add your own themes, videos, images or mp3 music making your site unique to you. Pricing is comparable and affordable too.

I hope that I was of some help and answered your question.

  9. To choose your own domain name means you have to register it, otherwise you are at the mercy of sites like blogspot who let you choose a subdomain. To make your own website and put up your own files, you need a web hosting service. There are some free ones, but you are limited to their names mostly. Or you can rent web space where your registered domain will be located. I suggest you try http://www.freewebs.com to experiment with while you do research into a domain registrar and web hosting packages. Here is a link to a page I set up in a few minutes as a demo of how easy it can be:

    http://www.freewebs.com/ngc1147m/

In this case, my usieid (or subdomain if you prefer) is simply a subdirectory on their server. Next, I suggest you go to http://www.about.com and do a site search for web page tutorials. They have a wealth of information for the basic beginner who knows absolutely nothing to fully advanced expert tutorials. All you need as a minimum is a simple text editor, like NOTEPAD. If you want a decent editor, do a search for "1st Page 2000" and download the free version. They also have a newer paid for version. 1st Page is a full featured HTML/TEXT editor which has all the features of, but is not limited like Frontpage is. Frontpage files, for the most part, can only be edited after they are created with Frontpage.

  10. You could learn HTML/XHTML and make a website using it (them) and using Notepad.
