How Do I Promote My Image For My Job? ?

I'm a hairstylist and I need to know if there is something that we'll help me promote my image, like I can't really talk to my clients and express myself for my job, and that is really important for me and I could loose my clients [which I already am]. I was wondering if any one could tell me if there was a book of some sort or website on saying how to promote yourself for your image and job. So it would be great if I knew how and what I could use for this habit.

A book I read years ago, "How to Talk so Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids will Talk" is a great book to learn how to communicate verbally.  Our company gave out this book to sales staff to learn how to talk to customers effectively.  

Another great book to learn how to be comfortable with people and develop good networking skills is: The Frog and The Prince
