How Do I Recover My Files if it says there Access Denied?

I was playing the laptop and so I went to my folders. An example of what happened was that I have a folder called 'My Stuff'. Inside this folder, there was another folder called 'Music' and in that folder there were video and mp3 files along with another folder called 'More Music' with more files in it. I tried playing the video and mp3 files but it couldn't play and so I opened another window and moved the 'More Music' folder into the folder 'My Stuff' and now I can't open the file and it says there access denied. It also says there that the folder is empty but according to my norton antivirus scanning, the files were still there. Is there any way for me to retrieve those files back?
