  1. I just got through this thing and let me tell you that whoever came up with it needs to be... well you know by now.

I had to boot my computer in safe mode and do several things.

First I went in to the control panel and deleted the file,  then went into program files and deleted it there too.

then run, msconfig, and went to the startup tab and unchecked the two start up files with the same name as the others deleted.

this will take you to restart, and when you go back it will have a prompt for system configurations.  click ok and it will restart again.

the only thing left was the icons.  i deleted those.

then went to www.kellys-korner-xp.com for "tweaks" and run #177 so i could get my backgrounds and screensavers back.

So far so good.  hopes this may help.

  2. download sdfix here:

    http://www.downloads.andymanchesta.com/R...

Install sdfix... reboot into safe mode.

Click Start button and select Run

In the Open box type C:\sdfix\runthis.bat

when it's done, reboot into normal mode

When the system has finished, a notepad will pop up and let you know if it found anything and if it was successful in removing the infection.

  3. It will if your norton definition is up-to-date.For best result download threafire and run it.It works with norton and also with most of the antivirus. Its free and d**n good.

  4. First of all, make sure you clean everything with C-Cleaner - Don't jump into using a program right away. Best program would be the following.

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

    --------------------------------------...

Then use the ever-reliable Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, RogueRemover -- which can be found online at:-

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

    --------------------------------------...

Then use Trend Micros, 'Hijack This'  program and you can either post a log file back here or to my email, or any online message board such as TechSpot.

    http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-Hija...

    --------------------------------------...

This would normally resolve malware and rogue such as Anti Virus 2008, 2009, or XP Antivirus etc.

However they wont usually clear tracking cookies etc, to clear all tracking cookies with one final sweep of your computer I'd recommend  SUPERAntiSpyware, which can be downloaded here:--

    http://www.superantispyware.com/?tag=GOO...

    --------------------------------------...

This will do the trick, and has been tested on 5+ computers within the last 4 days which have been infected.

  5. use manual removal instructions

    http://fix-computer-problem.com/rogue-an...

  6. Click this link to download free AVG 8 (anti virus)

    http://dw.com.com/redir?edId=3&siteId=4&...

Install it and let it update, then run a system scan. After it is done, remove all threats, and  XP antivirus will be gone, then you can uninstall AVG 8 (if you want to)

If I were you, I would remove Norton. It hogs system resources and doesn't work as well as AVG. (Just read what people say on the net about it)

Also, Norton may be infected by this virus, and is doing more harm than good.

  7. NEVER EVER  proceed with removal. IT is a scam!!! I just had a same thing , it took me 2 days to figure out how to remove this virus.

They downloaded many trojans horses and now they want you to buy their software to remove it, ITs a scam!!

Here is how I get rid of it:

    1. Disable system restore - Go to control panal > System > System restore tab and check the box that says “Turn off system restore on all drivers” then restart your pc and tap F8 during startup several times so you can start in safe mode.

    2. Run AVG (you can get a free version off internet)and delete any viruses it detects.

    3. Restart your pc and uncheck the “Turn off system restore on all drivers” Box.

Doing that deletes your system restore files in case the virus is hidden there.

Check to make sure you can change your screensaver and backgrounds for some reason, it disabled those for me. If they’re still disabled after you did the above then Google ''dial-a-fix''. It’s a free program that allowed me to enable the display tabs (Option called policies).
